Notes:
Circa 1910s-1920 most likely Oscar Schmidt made concert sized guitar with beautiful appointments such as a "mustache bridge", multicolored purfling and rosette and MOP fretboard inlay. While it is unbranded and bears hallmarks of different makers, we believe this beautiful guitar to have most likely been made by Oscar Schmidt in its Jersey City, NJ factory. In addition to being very visually attractive, the guitar plays very well for its age after our restoration work. We completed the following work: neck heat press straightened, rosewood bridge height reduced with planing (leaving it approximately 7/16" high), new maple retainer added to original bridge plate, new bone saddle, three very thin top cracks repaired, and binding repair in the fretboard extension area. Tuners appear to be original and function well. Back and sides are stained birch. Poplar neck. Ebony fretboard with a "zero fret". We are uncertain if neck is original to the guitar but it is possible it may not be given the scale length of the guitar and "V" headstock joint. Rosewood bridge may be a replacement but, if so, the work was extremely cleanly done. Typical nicks, scrapes and finish wear on top/back/sides although it is in overall very good cosmetic condition. In addition to rare original and very well preserved canvas "guitar sack"a used non-original hardshell case or gig bag will be included. New HSC can be purchased if desired.
