Circa 1926 Stahl Style 8. Made in Chicago by the renowned Carl and August Larson and branded with the Stahl named for Wiliam C. Stahl of Milwaukee. This is believed to be a Stahl "Artist Special" #8 or, possibly, a #7. Finely grained Brazilllian Rosewood Back and sides. Tight grained Spruce top. Top has the Larson Brothers' famous laminated x-bracing. It is rare for Stahls to have laminated x-bracing. Mahogany neck. Ebony fretboard bound with ivoroid and inlaid with pearl. Headstock is overlaid with Braziallian rosewood, and inlaid with a pearl floral pattern. Beutiful abalone inlay. Ebony bridge with pearl inlaid stars. 3 3/8" deep. Several repaired cracks on top, one treble waist crack and several back cracks all professionally repaired. Finish on repairs is polished out but not oversprayed. Finger or pick wear on the top. Internal bracing appears original. Bridgeplate has been replaced. Neck has been reset. Bridge and frets are original. Replacement tuners. There is an old internal pickup connected to an endpin jack. Old hardshell case which may be orginal. Guitar plays great and sounds fantastic!
