An extremely beautiful and sweet sounding New York era c.1880s Martin 0-28. Excellent balance, very responsive and a joy to play fingerstyle. Stunning set of figured Brazilian rosewood back/sides. Adirondack spruce top is bound in ivory with herringbone top trim. Zigzag back strip and three-ring rosette. Ebony pyramid bridge appears to be original. New compensated bone saddle. Ebony fretboard. Bar frets appear to be original and only have very minor pitting. Original tuners with ivory buttons function well. One very thin recently professionally repaired side crack on bass side (approximately 4.75" in length) that is almost imperceptible. No back cracks and no top cracks although it appears glue may have been added to the top seem at some point. Some gouges on the back of the "V" shaped Spanish cedar neck as pictured likely due to capo wear. There are two screws in the headstock as pictured just above and below tuners from an old headstock split repair at some point long ago in the guitar's history. Repair is structurally sound. Ivory heelcap. Box end graft. Rosewood bridge plate appears original and has had a maple bridge veneer added. Ebony end pin appears to be original. This guitar is currently strung with Silk+Steels. Action is approximately 4/32" at the low "E" 12th fret and approximately 3.5/32" at the high "E" 12th fret with some room to come down in the saddle on the bass side. This guitar has been in the possession of the same family for more than 50 years and has been well taken care of. Non-original HSC included. Inquire for additional pictures.
