Notes:
This is an interesting piece we have restored and we've not come across one like it. Made by Regal in Chicago c. late 1930s. Like some Regals of the era the headstock was carved with an Oahu shape similar to Kay made Oahus of the day. The auditorium sized body has a shape similar to Regal made 5257s with the same distinctive Regal shaped pick guard. Top was finished in a beautiful deep red sunburst. Ladder braced with a sweet and woody tone that has just enough upper harmonics chime and good sustain. Mahogany body. Neck appears to be poplar and has a distinct "V" profile. Restoration work we performed: neck reset, original fingerboard replaned, new frets, we recreated the original damaged spruce back braces and installed according to the original positioning/specs, loose top braces reglued, new bridgeplate as original was damaged and not in the correct position, new rosewood bridge, new bone nut and new compensated bone saddle, one approx. 3.0" top crack repair, new Grover open gear 18:1 tuners. Comes with non-original HSC.
