c. 1932 Tonk Brothers era Washburn 5238. This model of Washburn is one of our favorite of any vintage flattop acoustic guitar models (including Martin, Gibson, etc...) A very light and responsive guitar that is a joy to play. Perfect for flatpicking or fingerpicking. Neck joins the body at the 12th fret. Neck angle is good and the guitar is setup well and ready to play. Snowflake fretboard inlays. Fancy gold filigree on guitar top. Some areas of significant top play wear that do not affect the structural integrity of the guitar. Original finish. Original ebony "smile" bridge appears to have been regaled at some point. Recent period correct replacement tuners. MOP fretboard inlay and headstock inlay. Ivoroid bindings. Scalloped x-bracing. Mahogany neck. Neck is a chunky but very comfortable mix of a"C"/slight "V" profile. 2 3/8" string spacing at saddle. Excellent fitting non-original hardshell case.
