Rare circa 1920s A. Galiano branded auditorium sized guitar. While there are many examples of Galiano branded concert and grand concert sized guitars auditorium sized models are very rare. This guitar bears many hallmarks of the Italian American luthiers building instruments around New York City in the early part of the 20th Century such as Cerrito, Nettuno, Grouse, Ciani, etc... Spruce top with poplar back/sides. Ladder braced. Poplar neck with a comfortable but deep "C" shaped neck profile. Beautiful old world style multicolored purfling and rosette. Wooden backstrip appears to be maple and ebony. White celluloid binding. Original rosewood pyramid bridge. Original open geared tuners function well. Repair work completed: top and back crack repairs, neck reset, carbon rod added to the neck, new frets, new radiused ebony fretboard, new bone nut/bone saddle, new maple insert added to spruce bridge plate under string ball end area, braces regaled, one approximately 6.0" long piece of top purfling repaired by splicing in similar colored /designed purfling, replacement plastic bridge pins. Includes non-original hardshell case.
