Notes:
Here we have a beautiful c. late 1880s Washburn Style 205 concert sized guitar built by Lyon & Healy in its Chicago factory.  This guitar comes with its incredibly rare Lyon & Healy of Chicago branded hardshell case with purple lining as well as what appears to be a period correct family photo inside the case.  Spruce top and Brazilian Rosewood back/sides.  Cedar neck with a "V" profile and beautiful volute.  Mother of pearl  headstock and fretboard inlay.  Pearl leaf patterned rosette inlay.  White celluloid body bindings and sound hole binding. Marquetry pattern on top. Ebony headstock overlay.  Inlaid backstrip.  Ebony fingerboard with white celluloid fingerboard binding.  Replacement ebony pyramid bridge (1900 catalogue indicates this model originally had a flattened ebony "Durkee" style bridge). Ebony on fretboard from 11th-18th frets replaced.  Replacement bone saddle. Bone nut appears original.  Guitar has had a fresh neck reset and plays very comfortably.  New frets.  Replacement period correct tuners function well.  Significant top/back/side wear including scuffs, scratches etc. typical of a well played guitar of its age.  No top or side cracks.  Five very thin repaired back cracks. Some braces freshly reglued.
